Hon-Pro

Target: Tung Chau Street-Dawn Market

Theme: To re-define the terms "memory" and "value" through the Dawn Market in Tung Chau Street

Title: The day before sunrise

Media: Reproduction

Question: How do people value the importance of something? Is it depending on its market value or outlook appearence?

Aim: We should treasure everything no matter it is life or not.

Others: Sham Shui Po is one of the most poorest districts in Hong Kong. People living there are very poor. I believe that it is one of the reason why stuffs there are really cheap. We should care for the needy. For example, the low income families, vagrants, oldest, scavenge person, the minorities...etc. Most of the sellers in the Dawn market are poor. They work very eraly at around 3a.m-6a.m everyday in order to avoid being arest by the police. People will not care or recognise them as they are work before sunrise.

Artist statement: It's all about history and memory. What are their value? Where could they been?

Process:
I'll visit and buy somthing in the Dawn market in Sham Shui Po. Goods are being repaired and reproduced. They are used to be useful and valuable to somebody, somewhere or sometime. In fact, it's important to understand the story behind the goods through interviewing the sellers there.

Opening hour: 4a.m-6a.m
